May 20, · For RV camping near Yosemite Valley, Indian Flat Campground is quite good. It has full water + electricity + sewer hookups. It’s also about a minute drive outside the park entrance, and I didn’t see any RV camping on that was closer, so if you’re coming or 4/4.

They use heat on the back to make coolant flow. If there is an access panel on the outside that lets you get to the fridge back check for it getting warm when plugged in and switched to use AC power. Typically both AC and 12 volt power the same heating element, if that element is bad both sources won’t produce heat. Propane is a little tiny burner, size of the end of my thumb so even if electric element is bad, propane may still work. The wires for trailer brake, turn, marker lights are often run in the same location as the camping 12 volt wires.
Those cut wires in the picture look way too heavy for normal lights etc.
Yosemite Lakes Public RV Camping is an authentic American RV campground located just outside of California’s beautiful Yosemite National Park. Ideally situated just 5 miles from the west gate of the park entrance, this acre preserve is a wonderland of activity during the summer.
A path from the campground goes underneath PCH to allow easy access to the beach. Once there, campers can swim, surf, and walk along the shore, exploring numerous rock formations with sea caves and tide pools. The campground is made up of sites, each with its own picnic table and fire ring. Some sites have electrical hookups for RVs.
Flush toilets and coin-operated showers are provided. A camp store in the middle of the campground can be used to pick up marshmallows and other forgotten camping necessities. A campsite with an electrical hookup The campsites around the exterior of the loop offer decent privacy, while campsites in the center offer open space that makes it easy to combine sites for larger parties.
If the 8-person sites are too small, a group site at the north end of the campground can hold up to 50 people. This campground definitely gets crowded on summer weekends. Brush between sites add some privacy. Tall sycamores provide lots of shade. A site at the back of the campground in Leo Carrillo State Park A large day use parking area near the entrance of the campground serves as overflow parking, and free daytime parking is also available along PCH for those not staying overnight at Leo Carrillo State Park.
A walkway from the large parking area can be used to reach the beach.

Camping near Yosemite is your best option if all the campgrounds in Yosemite National Park are full. This often happens during peak season in June, July and August, and on weekends from May through September. Fortunately, there are some terrific public campgrounds in the national forests just .
This is where Yosemite Lakes comes into the picture. We booked this campground 1 week in advance and when we arrived there were dozens of sites available. Naturally we scoped out the National Park campsites in the Yosemite Valley to see what we were missing…come to find out we were happier with our location outside the park. We had full hook ups and a quiet spot all to ourselves instead of the crowded chaos of the NP campground. Score one for the procrastinators! We camped at Yosemite Lakes for a little over a week so we were able to explore the little town of Groveland, CA.
